ExpatriateConnect.com

In June 2004, the Southern Cross Group proudly became the founding partner of ExpatriateConnect.com. ExpatriateConnect is Australia's new national expatriate database, and aims to connect Australians and others in the Australian diaspora as well as repatriates with businesses and researchers in Australia for mutual benefit and collaboration.

ExpatriateConnect is an intiative of the Australian Institute for Commercialisation, and has received initial funding from various Australian state and federal governments.

A gala event organised by the Southern Cross Group was held on 9 June 2004 at Australia House in London, at which Australian Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty launched the project and urged all expatriate Australians and friends of Australia to get behind this new initiative. Some 450 people attended. Read the joint AIC/SCG media releases of 2 and 10 June 2004 here.

Are you an overseas Australian, or a non-Australian who nevertheless has close links with Australia, perhaps because you studied there or have Australian ancestry? Please sign up to ExpatriateConnect. It's free. The project will only be a success if the new database is populated with the details of as many expatriates as possible. This is a tangible way in which Australians abroad can make themselves available as a resource to those in Australia and "put back" into Australia.

Personal details provided to ExpatriateConnect directly are kept entirely confidential and are not provided separately to the SCG. The SCG receives no commission or other referral fees and makes no profit from its involvement with ExpatriateConnect. Note that signing up to the SCG's e-bulletin list will not simultaneously put you into the ExpatriateConnect database - you must sign up separately on the ExpatriateConnect website.

Can you or your local Australian expatriate organisation help us promote ExpatriateConnect further in the Australian expatriate community? We can provide you with flyers to hand out at your next event to help spread the word - just e-mail us at info@southern-cross-group.org.
